Texas Vs. The World

Everybody knows that we should protect the planet. The question is, what are we willing to pay to do it. Stephen Crowley wrote an article in the San Antonio Express News called "Gov. Abbott: Save the planet." His article says that the "Industries and economies built on fossil fuels will lose money initially, but nothing they can’t make up with investments in forward-thinking technology and alternative energy." That is an easy thing to say when you don't consider all the lives that would be affected by it. It is not just the business that would be affected.
Currently, Business Insider ranks Texas as 4th in the United States when it comes to economic health. The oil industry is a large part of Texas's economic wellbeing. Stepping out of the oil industry will increase our low gas prices and the cost of goods. People are moving to Texas from all over because of its low cost of living. The population increase is another huge stimulant to the Texas economy.

Crowley suggests that we switch to wind power as an alternative to fossil fuels. Putting the environmental impact of wind turbines aside, switching to wind energy has nothing to do with policy. The title of his article is "Gov. Abbott: Save the planet," but his article failed to say what he should do about it. The author is unclear about what he wants the governor to do. Articles like this get people all riled up, but seldom bring about change.
